「ＶＡＮ」が教えてくれたもの
「ＶＡＮ」の石津謙介氏が逝去されました。
享年93歳とのこと。謹んで、ご冥福をお祈りします。
僕は田舎のガキだったので、ＩＶＹなんて洒落た
お坊ちゃまではなかったのですが、氏の存在が
なかったらアイビーやプレッピー、メンクラやポパイ
なんて日本に存在しなかったんじゃないかと思えます。
さっきYahoo!NEWSで知ったんだけど、「ＴＰＯ」や「トレーナー」も氏の造語らしいよ。
僕は「今の若者は・・・」って言わないタイプだと思うんだけど、気になることはある。
７０年代の若者は、貧乏だった。いや、どの時代も若者は貧乏なんだ。
自由になるお金より、興味の対象に費やしたいお金のほうが多いんだから。
僕なんて、若くないのに未だに貧乏だ。
７０年代の少年は、１ヶ月も履けばヨレヨレになりそうな水色のＶＡＮのスニーカーを買った。
当然、親は悲しそうな顔をする。月星やアキレスなら２足買えて１年は持つ。
みんな、バカだった。その頃の少年はアイビールックなんか似合わないんだから（笑）
けど、そういうもんなのだ。ファッションに金を使うと言う事は。
対費用効果なんて求めてはいけないものだったのだ。
ところが、みんな小賢しくなった。
数年前にユニクロが普及し始めた頃には、「この服、いくらだと思う？」とか云って、
安く入手したことを誇りだした。
僕は「このシャツ、18,000円だけど、２回洗ったら襟がよれて・・・」とか云う人を愛します。
いや、僕はやらないけどね。でも、そんなバカを愛します。
石津謙介は、僕達に色々なものを教えてくれたし提示してくれた。
ノベルティの楽しさや、プレッピーの精神も教えてくれた。
僕のような人間でも、我々の世代にとって、十指に入る神様であることに異論は無い。
